FAQ

What is a Hosted PBX System?

A hosted PBX (private branch exchange) is a cloud-based system managed by a remote service provider, such as CloudLine. PBX solutions rely on an internet connection to route and forward calls or record voice mail. It’ll even integrate auto-attendants to streamline customer calls. Users can place and receive calls via their existing IP phones, softphone extensions, or mobile applications

What is the Difference Between Hosted PBX and Traditional PBX?

Traditional PBX is located at a business’ server or technology room. It uses physical telephone networks to receive and transfer calls to legacy landlines. A hosted PBX in the cloud uses voice over IP (VoIP) technology to connect calls to assigned users. A virtual PBX offers more advanced features than traditional telephone networks, such as call queuing and auto receptionists.

How Do Hosted PBX Systems Work?

Hosted PBX uses an internet router and remote VoIP technology to connect calls and transfer voice traffic. A selected internet telephone service provider (ITSP) provides and maintains your PBX. When combined with a SIP trunk, callers can connect via the public switched telephone network (PSTN).

What is the Benefit of Hosted PBX?

Hosted PBX systems are exclusive to businesses, giving them greater control over their expenses and security. Companies can benefit from considerable cost savings, as all calls transferred over the Internet are free. Remotely hosted PBX systems eliminate the need for large-scale on-site maintenance, which reduces business continuity risks. Cloud VoIP technology also facilitates communication from any location.

Is PBX Better Than VoIP?

Although a traditional PBX effectively transfers voice calls, its capabilities are limited compared to voice over IP or VoIP. Unlike VoIP, physical PBX relies on the availability of the end-user and does not facilitate other forms of communication. VoIP technology enables end-users to forward, cue, and re-direct calls, improving internal communication and customer satisfaction. Similarly, it’s compatible with IP phones, mobile devices, and computer integrations.

Can I keep my phone number(s)?

Yes we are able to take your existing phone number or range of numbers from your current carrier and move it directly to our network. This process is called Number Porting.

Are VoIP Calls Free?

A common misconception is that VoIP calls are free as they are on the internet. In some cases, VoIP calls can be free in-fact we offer free calls from CloudLine to CloudLine customers.

The short answer however is no, VoIP calls are not free.

Who Should Use SIP Trunking?

Small businesses, remote workers, and large enterprises can benefit from SIP trunking. Companies satisfied with their existing PBX system looking to scale can do so easily with VoIP technology and cloud features. SIP trunking services can also benefit managed service providers that don’t currently offer it as a service. These entities can purchase and resell SIP trunking services to give clients a better experience.

How Does SIP Trunking Differ from Hosted PBX

SIP trunking and hosted PBX systems are two separate components. SIP trunking connects VoIP services to a PTSN, enabling businesses to keep their physical PBX. Firms with a hosted PBX don’t need physical connective equipment, as it’s managed by a service provider, like CloudLine, remotely via the cloud.

What are the Advantages of SIP Trunking?

SIP trunking allows businesses to offer more comprehensive internal and external communications, enabling them to scale. It lets them take a higher volume of customer calls with call routing and auto attendant assistance. These features filter calls by topic and department and provide automated answers to general questions, saving businesses time. Companies also benefit from considerable cost savings, as they don’t need extra physical equipment.

What is SIP Trunking?

Session initiation protocol (SIP) uses a business’ IP network to connect a business’ public switched telephone network (PSTN) so they can continue using traditional phone lines and integrate internet communications. These methods include voicemail, video conferencing, instant messaging, and screen sharing for a more personable experience.

How does the White Label Reseller process work?

After you sign up online, you’ll customise your portal to align with your brand identity (colours, logos, domain settings, etc.). Then, create your service offerings – Hosted PBX, SIP trunks, or bundled solutions – and set the pricing. Once configured, you can start adding customers. They see only your name on invoices, portals, and support interactions, while CloudLine powers the infrastructure from behind the scenes.

Which types of customers can benefit from White Label PBX?

Virtually any organization seeking reliable telephony can benefit, from small home offices to large-scale corporations. Our Hosted PBX is feature-rich yet scalable, which means you can tailor packages to meet various requirements – like multi-level auto-attendants, call recording for compliance, or remote workforce management.

Why should I brand CloudLine’s solutions as my own?

White labelling means you enjoy full ownership of your client relationships. Customers recognise you as their communications provider, which cultivates loyalty and repeat business. Moreover, with minimal start-up investment, you avoid the risk and expense of building your own platform from scratch.

How do I handle billing and payments?

CloudLine offers an integrated, automated billing system that issues invoices and processes payments under your brand. Charges go straight to your account, which gives you a streamlined, hands-off approach to financial management. If you prefer a different payment gateway or method, we can often accommodate custom integrations.

Will CloudLine interact with my customers directly?

Never. One of the key benefits of our White Label Reseller model is that CloudLine remains invisible to your end users. You have full ownership of support, billing, and client engagement. If complex support issues arise, we serve as your escalation point and are always behind the scenes.
